Movies

The Davistown Museum plans to use the open space of the current Masonic Hall to show old 16 mm movies and the work of contemporary filmmakers.  We have a number of old movies in the Museum collection.  We are still in need of a screen to use for showing movies.

Special Events

The Davistown Museum hopes to sponsor occasional special exhibits if funding is available.  These will include occasional one time performances of  mime, poetry reading, quartets, folk music, community arts and other arts events.  Our annual art exhibition will be supplemented at other times of the year with individual or small group art shows.  The movie schedule will be contingent upon the availability of the main floor, but will tend to be on weekends during the off season and weekdays during the summer season.

From time to time The Davistown Museum will sponsor special projects and individual art exhibits as space and funding allow.  We intend to utilize the central seating area of the museum when films and videos are not being shown and our portable chairs are stored away.  This will allow for small weekend shows by Maine area artists as well as other historical organizations.  Please contact the Museum if you, your group or organization would like to sponsor a two or three day show in most any art medium or on any Maine history related topic.  Please keep in mind that the museum display space is located on the third floor of the Prescott block, therefore any displays must be portable enough to be carried up two flights of stairs.
